While it may seem like a modern treat synonymous with entertainment, fossil evidence suggests that ancient cultures have known about Popcorn from as early as 4,700BC. But it wasn’t until the 1890’s that Popcorn became widely accessible, when Charles Cretors created street cars equipped with steam powered popcorn makers.

The steam escapes by rupturing the kernel, causing it to “pop” into light, fluffy morsels that are ready to eat.
